People rush to do something productive instead of examining what is productive. We autopilot our way to a step some ladder we have been convinced is productive and our culture is convinced this version of productive is essential to existing and anything otherwise is negligent, vile. Its fucking not. The space to do nothing and the doing of nothing as a point, not as a recess or break or rest for the next days work is a beautiful thing. It give light and shadow to the substance in one’s life. It gives gravity to the soul.

People are terrified of doing nothing as if they will miss out on something. The irony here is clear unless examined blindly; you’re nothing missing out, you are doing nothing. Scheduling in free time is one of the healthiest things a human being can do in this day and age. Calvin and Hobbes would not exist without free time. Great ideas can not come to fruition if a mind is constantly running a circuit. Soul saving love affairs cannot exist without space to grow, blossom, or start. It is essential to being human to give free time so that the mind can wander in the nuance of existence. We currently generalize and script so much that the true details of life which make up a full story are being lost, delicious bites lost to self-starved mouths chomping at an unsatisfying big picture.
