Patterns are easy to find and natural for humans to look for so as to develop understanding and predictability of their world. Seeking the comfort and benefit from those can draw a person too strongly that they want a fit understanding so badly that they jump to conclusions and convince themselves one exists where it does not. Traumatized ppl are prone to recreating emotional and power positions in their lives that they are familiar with. Since they’ve been through damage, the situation is usually negative. Everyone recreates their situation as a point of reference and the groups new circumstances into it. This is momentum. This is familiarity and predictability. So important is it to keep an open mind to new situations. Getting around. This kind of situation can be done more fluidly with mental exercise and planned playing fields. Create a new situation that you can go to, roles you are comfortable assuming ppl have. Keep this situation in mind when trauma and scary ones seems to come up.

For instance take being guilt prone. You assume you were the bad person and that everyone is made at you, this is your ghost function you subconsciously fuse the roles into when stress occurs. Create a new one, anything will do. Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix! A secret wizarding group that meets to defeat the dark lord and exchanges information to save the world. Put your traumatic situation into that scenario instead of your guilt proneness.

The real request here is to be more aware of projecting and assuming. The mind always does this and tells itself that it does not, it is a level of comfort that’s productive but inaccurate to reality and can create explosions. Getting further into situations is the key and goal. Leaving old ones is hard and recognizing painful ones is the most hard. Creating new ones serves excellent contrast
