A person who has suffers trauma has probably undergone a highly improbable incident. The lingering problems are many yet future problems will always be worse and caused from a traumatic persons mindset. The panicked mind projects and until this traumatic projection is addressed and dismissed, said person will unintentionally relive the trauma through hyper-vigilance.

As new chances and scenarios present themselves does a person with a past of trauma meet their chance to change the pattern. This new thing can work, this new person won’t hurt us, this new job is good for us, and so on needs to be applied. Creating a new script for one’s old feared expectation is not hard to do but different and clashes with an intense defense system.

As we find ourselves wondering what to do next does the brain and the self look at likely outcomes and possibilities. Being patient while looking at these schema means not jumping too early. A traumatized or spastic or childish or messy or lazy or whatever else ya got wrong with your head prefers to be impatient. This is stupid in action. So often the simplest way to not let old trauma affect new opportunities is to think of the multiple outcomes available. Get a few realistic good ones will help as well as address the irrationality of the worry.

Finding the space where one can sit and simply be present to replace the triggerman position will allow a person the freedom to think and be. In moments of stress and returns of old pressure does one need these. In doing so one releases from jumping to conclusions. Their scars turn into notes of knowledge and they’re free to react as strong beings in full control of themselves. This is a right and a step forward to strength.
