We’re taught from a very young age that if we don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say anything at all.

We’re taught from a very young age to be kind to people no matter what.

We’re taught from a very young age to love people unconditionally, and not to judge anyone based on the color of her skin, the size of her shirt or whether or not she’s “beach body ready” or has flawless skin or straight white teeth . . .

So, if we’re taught from such a young age to treat others how we’d like to be treated, then when is it that we are taught to love ourselves when our jeans don’t fit like they used to, when our hair is out of place, when we’re breaking out and hiding behind beach blankets and side bangs and baggy t-shirts?

When are we taught that if we don’t have anything nice to say to ourselves, then don’t say anything at all? Because it’s a lesson I think a lot of us have missed & even more of us need.
