I work at a place where we entertain people by pretending to be knights and fighting on Horseback. There are more productive jobs for society and our world’s problems but if those problems were all fixed, then what? A world without art is a world only looking to fix itself is a world without hope of happiness.  Life is about the journey, not the destination. The destination is the opposite of life… its death. So at the end of fixing those problems, we find ourselves looking to enjoy life. And we could have been doing both the whole time. Pursuing growth in life is not by this means a bad thing but it is a waste if done in place of pursuing beauty. Life is full of beauty and chasing or creating that is more noble than constantly trying to better one’s self. Improvement is often needed and important but it is not a better rather a less virtuous task that takes precedence due to functionality. I have so many brilliant friends whom are destroying themselves trying to fit a standard or fix something because they’ve been convinced they need to. Because that is the peak of their ability. And as they strive for this, they miss out on the rainbow at the end of the darkness that is always around them. They ignore the beauty and the fun to do the work which when done will leave the beauty and fun as a goal but over. Seek what is beautiful and make such, that is the fire of life.
